Electrolysis for Trans Women

Facial or body hair can affect how you feel about yourself and how you are seen by others. You may want every hair removed, need help clearing what remains after laser, or only want to focus on certain areas. There is no single right goal.

I will listen to what you want and work with you toward it. I will not make assumptions about your body, your transition, or what you should want to change.

Facial and body hair removal

Electrolysis can permanently remove hair of any color and can be used on all skin tones. Because it does not rely on pigment, it can treat blonde, red, gray, and white hairs that laser cannot target. It can also be used to clear dark hairs that remain after laser treatment.

Facial clearance takes time because hair grows in cycles, so not every follicle can be treated at once. The length of your treatment plan will depend on the amount and type of hair present, the areas you want cleared, previous hair-removal methods, and how consistently you are able to come in.

We will start with the areas that matter most to you and adjust the plan as treatment progresses.

Electrolysis for vaginoplasty preparation

Some vaginoplasty procedures use penile or scrotal skin to create the vulva or vaginal canal. Depending on the procedure and your surgeon’s requirements, permanent hair removal may be needed before surgery. Removing hair from tissue that will become part of the vaginal canal can help prevent hair growth and related complications after surgery.

Your surgeon will determine exactly which areas must be cleared and whether electrolysis is appropriate. Please bring any template, measurements, or instructions provided by your surgical team so I can follow their requirements closely.

Surgical hair removal takes time, so it is important to begin electrolysis well before your procedure, 12+ months.

Care that recognizes what this process can mean

For many trans women, facial hair removal is not simply a cosmetic service. It may affect how comfortable you feel looking in the mirror, going without makeup, being photographed, or moving through your daily life. I understand that each appointment can be one small part of a much larger change.

I saw firsthand how permanent hair removal changed the way my wife felt about herself, from questioning whether treatment would work to reaching a point where unwanted hair was no longer controlling her daily routine. That experience is one reason I became an electrologist.

I provide care in a private treatment room where you can ask questions and talk openly about your needs. I will use the name, pronouns, and language that feel right to you. My role is to meet you where you are and help you make steady progress, one appointment at a time.

Getting started

All new clients begin with an in-person consultation. We will review your health history, discuss your goals, assess your skin, and create a treatment plan. A small patch test will also allow you to experience what treatment feels like.

If you are preparing for surgery, please bring your surgeon’s hair-removal instructions or template. If you do not have them yet, we can still discuss the process and what you will need from your surgical team.

Not sure whether electrolysis is right for you? You are welcome to contact me before booking.
