Electrolysis is the only FDA-approved method for 100% permanent hair removal. I insert a tiny, sterile probe into the natural opening of the hair follicle and apply a small amount of electrical current. This destroys the growth cells at the root so the hair can never grow back.

Everyone’s pain tolerance is different, but most people describe it as a quick sting or warming sensation. Some areas are definitely more sensitive than others, but discomfort should be minimal and the settings can be adjusted if necessary.
-
Hair grows in different cycles (growing, resting, and shedding). Electrolysis can only successfully destroy a hair follicle when the hair is in its active growth phase. Because your hairs grows in different stages, it takes a series of consistent appointments to catch every follicle in the right phase.

I am private-pay only and do not bill insurance directly.
If you have commercial insurance, I can provide a Superbill (medical receipt) so you can seek out-of-network reimbursement. However, state law prevents OHP from reimbursing out-of-pocket cash, so this option will not work for state plans. Please call your private provider before our first session to confirm your benefits.

You can shave but stop at least 3-4 days before to allow enough hair to grab with tweezers by the time you arrive for your appointment. However, you must stop plucking, waxing, or threading entirely. Tweezing damages the follicle and alters the growth cycle, completely throwing off our progress.

Testosterone activates new hair follicles over time, which means you might see new hair pop up in areas we’ve already cleared. This is completely normal as electrolysis can’t stop new follicles from waking up. Given this, it is best to be on T for at least 3-5 years before starting electrolysis to minimize risks.

Yes. I focus heavily on supporting the trans community. I understand the absolute necessity of achieving complete, permanent hair clearance on the donor site (such as the forearm or thigh) to prevent post-op complications like intra-urethral hair growth.
-
Ideally, you should start electrolysis 18 months before your surgery date. Complete donor site clearance requires multiple full clearance cycles to ensure dormant follicles are caught and destroyed. Electrolysis should be complete 6-8 weeks ahead of surgery to allow time to heal. If your surgery is sooner, let’s chat about what a realistic timeline looks like.
